TiVo the Packer Game

Fox Valley Ultimate will be meeting at Ashwaubemay Park at 2:00 p.m. this Sunday. This is located just south of Hwy 172 in Ashwaubenon, between the Fox River and Ashland Ave. What we do will depend on how many people show up. The more people we have, the more our activities will resemble an actual game of Ultimate Frisbee.

We started this league in order to create a dependable and reliable Ultimate opportunity in the Green Bay area. We want this to be a strong event, meaning that a guy can wake up on Sunday and say "Gee, I feel like playing some Ultimate today. Hey, I know! Fox Valley is playing today and I know it's guaranteed that there's going ot be a game today."
That having been said, we are starting out from scratch. It is unrealistic to expect that there will be full-blown games these first few weeks. I ask for everybody's patience as we grow into the league we aspire to be, and to not get discouraged during these early times.
Please let either Kevin or I know if you have any questions or concerns.

First Official Greet-n-Toss

This Sunday will be the first official gather-and-toss for Fox Valley Ultimate. We’ll be at the Ashwaubomay Memorial River Park, which is just south of Highway 172, between Ashland Avenue and the Fox River. If you’re coming, bring some water. We’ll meet at 2pm in one of the vacant soccer fields (there will be a large orange and black sign if you have any trouble finding us).

This will likely just be a meet-and-toss thing for an hour or two (or longer if anyone’s really itching to do it), but if we get enough people to show up, we’ll do something a little more interesting, depending on the numbers.

If you know anyone else who wants to get in on this, invite them.

Fox Ultimate

What is Fox Ultimate?
Fox Ultimate is an attempt to bring mainstream Ultimate Frisbee to Green Bay, Wisconsin, and the surrounding areas.
At the moment, we are in our early marketing stages. Getting the word out that there is going to be some serious Ultimate in Green Bay. This involves creating a presence online, getting people hyped up by word-of-mouth, standard advertising, and going out to parks on a weekly basis to toss the ol' disc around and be seen.
Our goals and potential are limited only by the interest we see in the community. Once we have enough bodies, we'll do some informal pick-up games and scrimmages. As we grow, we're hoping to develop a small league, get our own jerseys and discs, compete in tournaments, and perhaps even host our own tournament.
Who is Invited?
If you're interested, you're welcome to join us. We don't care where you're from (if you're willing to drive up from Chicago or Minneapolis, more power to you). We don't care about your skill or experience level (if you don't know what a Frisbee is, we'll teach you that and more). Boy or girl, young or old, it really doesn't matter - just so long as you want to play. This thing is being started by two guys who are literally crawling out of their skin, desperate to play some serious Ultimate.
What is Ultimate?
Check out the UPA web-site at http://www.upa.org/.
As we said, even if you've never heard of Ultimate before - if this sounds like your cup of tea, we want you to come out and play with us. We'll be more than happy to take the time to teach you and fill in all of the details.
I Want to Play. What Do I Do?
Post a comment on here with your name, phone number, and / or e-mail address. Comments are moderated; so we will extract the information and put it in our database, and then delete the comment so that it never becomes posted online for the public eye. Otherwise, meet us at one of our disc-tossin' sessions (to be later known as scrimmages, hopefully). We will post information about these disc tossin' session on this blog.
